What is the origin of the Christmas boots? A long time ago, Saint Nicholas wanted to help three poor sisters. Their father was despairing because he could not provide a dowry so they could marry. Saint Nicholas got wind of this story and, one winter night, he slipped down the chimney some gold coins that landed in the young girls' stockings, which they had left to dry there overnight. The young girls discovered the happy surprise the next morning and were so grateful that they told this story to anyone who would listen. Thus, the Christmas boots made their entrance into the Christmas tradition.
