💡 An anecdote to gift like an expert

 

Studies in sensory psychology have shown that the colour of a sweet alters the perception of its taste, regardless of its actual composition. In a famous experiment, subjects who were given green sweets flavoured with strawberry mostly declared they could taste lime or apple. The brain anticipates the taste even before the taste buds come into play, based on colour. Confectioners knowingly exploit this phenomenon: red evokes strawberry or cherry, yellow lemon, green mint or apple. This is why a sweet without artificial colour is often perceived as less tasty.
