Why give a personalised whisky glass?
A personalised whisky glass is much more than a utilitarian object. It’s a refined, personal gift — perfect for marking a special occasion or simply delighting a whisky enthusiast. Here’s why it’s a great idea:
- A unique gift for a connoisseur: for a whisky lover, nothing beats a glass that reflects their tastes and personality. A glass engraved with their initials, a memorable date or a personal message becomes a true symbol of their passion, adding a touch of class to every dram.
- An unforgettable keepsake: gifting a personalised whisky glass marks a life moment — a 30th birthday gift for him, a wedding, a promotion or a celebration among friends. Each time it’s used, it recalls the thoughtful gesture and the special occasion.
- A distinctive idea for businesses: in a professional setting, a personalised whisky glass can strengthen relationships with clients or colleagues. Offering an elegant, practical gift engraved with a logo or company message shows attention to detail and leaves a lasting impression — perfect for events, seminars or year-end gifting.
- Timeless and durable: unlike short-lived gifts, a personalised whisky glass stands the test of time. Its careful design and practicality make it a long-lasting object in daily use.
- Easy to customise: whether with elegant engravings or original messages, it’s easy to tailor a whisky glass to the recipient’s taste. Add a personal touch, a favourite quote, a special date or even a photo (on the accompanying wooden gift box).
In short, a personalised whisky glass is a refined, practical and deeply personal gift. It suits every occasion and recipient — the perfect choice for those seeking a unique and memorable present.
The history of whisky
Whisky has a fascinating history stretching back centuries, though its exact origins are hard to pin down. Distillation is thought to have begun in Ireland and Scotland around the 12th century, when Christian monks adapted techniques used to make perfumes and medicines. This process, brought from the Middle East, enabled them to produce a more concentrated spirit used for religious purposes as well as medicinal ones.
Over the following centuries production spread, with family and artisan distilleries refining the craft and using grains such as barley, maize and rye. In Scotland, Scotch became a national symbol, with regulations on its production introduced as early as the 17th century. Whisky crossed oceans with settlers, notably to America, where it grew in popularity.
Today whisky is enjoyed worldwide, with many regional styles — each offering a unique experience.
A fun little anecdote
Did you know the oldest surviving bottle of whisky dates to the 1850s? It was discovered in a cellar in Scotland, and its contents remain perfectly intact thanks to a sealed cork. Another curious fact: during Prohibition in the United States (1920–1933), whisky was one of the few alcoholic drinks permitted — but only on prescription! Doctors could issue scripts allowing patients to buy whisky at the pharmacy — a handy pretext to keep enjoying this precious nectar legally!
